GdS: How Ibrahimovic and Leao could push Gyokeres to Milan this summer

By Euan Burns -

Both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leao could have a role to play in AC Milan’s pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), there is reason to believe that Ibrahimovic and Leao can influence Gyokeres’ decision on his future.

With Olivier Giroud now expected to leave the club on a free transfer this summer, the chase for a new main striker has intensified and Gyokeres looks to be the most plausible candidate right now.

Gyokeres and Leao recently faced one another in an international friendly between Sweden and Portugal, and the two forwards swapped shirts after the match and had a conversation. The suggestion is that Leao is keen to play with Gyokeres at Milan in the future.

Perhaps an even bigger factor for Gyokeres will be the chance to work with Ibrahimovic. The former Milan striker is a legend of the Swedish game and someone that Gyokeres will have looked up to as a youngster.

It is not yet clear exactly what Ibrahimovic’s role will be when it comes to transfers, but he is certainly getting more and more hands-on in his special advisor role.

  1. There comes a point where you need to buy what you want. Zikzee… do I think he’s worth 50 mil? No, but the position we want to fill, and he’s the guy everybody seems to agree upon. We need something very specific, at a specific timing, you should be prepared to overpay

  2. Zikzee is not tall enough fir pullout… we will miss that crossing targets in our game. Something to look around for.

  3. When Cardinale bought this team the philosophy was to buy up and coming young players cheaper and sell them high. Viktor Gyokeres is 25 worth 50 million, Zikeree is 23 worth 50 million, and Sesko is 20 worth 50 million. Whoever is the youngest with the greatest ceiling is who they will buy based on their philosophy!

    1. Let me tell you Gyökeres won’t cost anything less than 80 mil, if we are to get him (which I would love to see), we should be prepared to sell maignan AND Bennacer/Kalulu

  4. With Giroud leaving this summer, the real question is what combination of 2 strikers will we afford? Even with best case scenario of 50mil on Gyo alone seems out of question when we will need another striker, DM and CB.

So most bang for the buck seem to be Zee and David from the names we’ve been linked to.
