GdS: Ibrahimovic ready to take next step in his recovery – he will only return at 100%

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return is getting closer and closer but there is no intention of rushing his recovery and running the risk of further damage.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) takes stock of Ibrahimovic’s recovery programme following the knee operation he had on June 18. The Swede wants to be at Stefano Pioli’s disposal for the first game of the season on 23 August against Sampdoria.

However, the 39-year-old has not yet resumed working on the pitch, but he should do so soon. He is continuing to train between the gym and swimming pool, and could resume running on the field at Milanello on Monday.

The final step then would be a return to training with the group, and then Pioli would have a good idea of when he will be available. However, nobody is rushing him as it would be a serious mistake to risk a new injury and therefore another stop for the Swede. Ibra will return to the field only when he is at 100%.
