GdS: Ibrahimovic’s Milan return imminent – his role and when it should be announced

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is closing in on another return to AC Milan, and this time in a role very different to that of centre-forward after his retirement from football.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) the negotiations between Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale have reached the final stages and thus an agreement seems to be days or even hours away.

It cannot be ruled out that the white smoke may arrive either today or tomorrow. Ibra will not have a position in the organisational chart of Milan, but will have a role as advisor to both Milan and the RedBird Capital fund.

The Swede will have various tasks at the Rossoneri, including being Stefano Pioli’s interlocutor on matters on the pitch and in the dressing room. He will therefore soon return to attend Milanello and will be alongside not only the coach, but also the entire squad.

The announcement of Ibrahimovic’s return to Milan is expected very soon, probably before the Devil’s next match against Lecce. Tomorrow the team will leave for Puglia, while Cardinale will board a plane that will take him back to the United States.

The feeling is that before these two trips everything will be defined and Zlatan will officially return to Milan. The 41-year-old is therefore ready to start his new life in football and at the club which captured his heart most.
