GdS: Inter also rivalling Milan in race to sign Lazio forward on expiring deal

By Oliver Fisher -

There could be yet another transfer window derby about to take place after Marcus Thuram and Davide Frattesi because Inter are rivalling AC Milan for Luka Romero.

It was reported by La Repubblica (via MilanNews) earlier in the week Milan have found an agreement with Romero, who is all set to leave Lazio on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s interest in Frattesi sparked Inter’s counter-offensive and they secured the arrival of Thuram on a free transfer, with Romero now in their sights too.

Contacts over the Argentine born took place during Piero Ausilio’s trip to London in which he met Fali Ramadani and spoke about Romero, who will not renew with the Biancoceleste.

Inter see the 18-year-old as opportunity that will be evaluated in the coming days, while fact that he could arrive on a free transfer is intriguing to them.

  1. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 And they offered a bigger contract, of course. Milan knows what they are doing, nobody will be overpaid. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    1. Yes according to genius @Martin: We should offer, every targets, €100m net per season right? 🤣 In that way, everyone will join.. Unless somebody offers, them €150m, then we should give them €200m! Genius @Martin..👏

  2. Lolzzz let them keep over paying..thuram for me is not a top player that millan should be paying Alot of money to get.

    1. Dude, every other player costs the transfer fee. If Milan pays 40M and 4M per year for Balogun as an example and Inter pays 10M + 6M per year for Thuram, who paid more in 5 years? Easy. Overpaying what? The player is asking for part of that difference in fee to be paid to him through a sign on fee and salary, but it is still cheaper.

      1. I don’t agree, if it is money issue then yes Thuram is undoubtedly the way to go, but he has to settle into Seria a, learn the language, deal with the racism and so do his family,

I would rather spend and get a players who offers guarantees then one who is free and offers none!!!

        1. And which player is that? Which striker can Milan sign that knows Italian and doesn’t take time to settle? Gianluca Failmacca? Which one? Ciro Imobille? You wrote complete nonsense, literally any player that Milan is targeting will deal with most of those issues. 😂

          1. There are 2 very obvious ones,
One Rasmus Hojlund, I take onto account t he would be very expensive but on a higher level then Thuram…..but also
BETO!!!, Better then Thuram and with Leao and Chukwueze or Pulisic would be pure FIRE!!

        1. That is the answer. those +1 and +2 are bonuses and are not guaranteed, so technically Milan offered the same money for Thuram. I didn’t make that offer, so I don’t know why are you asking me. If you’re asking me Milan should have offered 35M for that guy from Villareal and signed him already. Chelsea did that now. But saying that it is overpaid or expensive when the fee is 0€ to the club and around 10M€ to the players representatives and him is being stupid. The total cost is less than almost any other player Milan can get, and in the end that is what matters for something being overpaid or not…

      2. There’s more to it than that though:

If the club pays a transfer fee, they can command lower salary for the player – whilst overall it can work out more expensive, the player being on a lower salary can raise his value for a future transfer and makes it easier to sell the player on or loan them out if it doesn’t work out. If Thuram doesn’t work out for Inter, good luck shifting a 6.5m net salary. See the problem we have with Origi now.

Transfers with no fee also can mean huge signing bonuses, equivalent to paying a small fee.

There’s not an issue necessarily with either way, both methods have pros and cons. A good free transfer will still work out better over the contract term, a bad one can often work out worse.

    2. Leao making 5/year after stellar seasons. Thuram comes in with 0 cred and asks for more than Leao? I bet that wouldn’t sit well with Leao.

But the worrying sign for me here, is that afte all these negotiations, Furlani hadn’t been able to lock Thuram down. No one has Maldini’s pull and appeal.

      1. Leao is making 5+2 in bonuses, not 5. There is a difference. They offered Thuram 5+1. That was the offer, Inter gave him 6.

      2. Very valid point and does Leao have a ‘parity clause’s in his contract or this could cause serious problems in the dressing room where Theo and Mike feel and told everyday that they are world class

        1. He basically rejected the same amount from Milan and signed for Inter. I’m sure they will feel much better when they play with average players. That always makes world class players happy, especially if that causes the club not to go into champions league. They will leave as soon as that happens.

  3. With javier zanetti as their vice president , it will be easy for IM to convince luka romero ( argentine)
. We better focus on arda guler ,this kid are truly gem and wonderkid

    1. Im sure it should be vice versa 😂 since your team always chasing our target, started from Leao back then. If not because conte who didn’t want leao, he is inter now.

    2. Or they only care about finishing on top of Milan next season. They already have 10x better squad so they’re just trying to make sure Milan don’t get the players they want. 😀

  4. All of you make good comments but no one believes in Retegui. Camarda (15 years) should be elevated to senior team. Why should we fantasize on mbappe (Milan fan) yet we have our own Mbappe. Mbappe made his debut with Monaco at 16 years. Why not Camarda (15) years. Where is the Italian spirit in the team.?

    1. Because kids need time to develop. No one is ruin his career because of some stupid ideas. Ok? Grow up, and that is what Camarda also needs to do. Grow up and gain experience, probably on loans when he is 17-18.

  5. @ACM 1899 spot on… I’m beginning to suspect the same thing. Not just Inter but so many other clubs don’t bother scouting. They know they will outbid Milan, so they wait and if the lead gets hot they open their cheque books and take the player from under our noses. This is not funny anymore

    1. Yeah right, you are both ridiculous. Clubs are following 50-100 players at any given time, all around the world. Inter contacted Thuram before we were even looking but he got injured. Maybe they went for this kid just to antagonize Milan, but Frattesi, SMS and Thuram were Inter targets before Milan decided to go for them. Stop spreading nonsense, it is nothing but that.

  6. At this rate Milan will bankcrupt Inter if they are not careful. Make them pay more for anything and every target out there and we move on.

  7. Milan bought Tonali who had agreed to sign for Inter, the same with Leao. Thurman has agreed to come to Inter since last summer m. So it is not Inter buying the player Milan scout
