GdS: 1,702 vs. 1,223 – comparing Inter and Milan’s international fatigue

By Oliver Fisher -

Inter and AC Milan have not had ideal preparation for the derby with so many players away on international duty, but who will approach the game with more minutes in their legs?

As seen below, La Gazzetta dello Sport write that Inter beat Milan 1,702 to 1,223 on minutes played by internationals over the break. For the Nerazzurri the main concerns will be Lautaro playing in Bolivia and Alessandro Bastoni being on the pitch for two entire matches.

For Milan there were two Americans who returned across the Atlantic after playing on Tuesday night in Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah. Olivier Giroud had a sprained ankle scare with France, with whom Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez played all 180 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez was on the pitch for 90 minutes, proving that he had no problems. Juan Cuadrado was not seen, while Lautaro played less than a full match.

For Marcus Thuram – after Giroud returned to Italy – he increased his minutes with the France shirt. Denzel Dumfries was the best form-wise (four assists in two games), while Davide Frattesi scored twice.

Among the Rossoneri ranks, Musah and Krunic join Maignan and Theo in the 180-minute crew. Rafae Leao had an hour against Slovakia and just over 70 minutes against Luxembourg, getting an assist.

Pulisic played the entire first match against Uzbekistan and only one half against Oman, while Kjaer started once. Chukwueze only had a quarter of an hour but got a goal and an assist, Okafor and Jovic barely played, while Tomori and Thiaw didn’t.
