GdS: 200 countries and €6.5m revenue – Inter vs. Milan a showpiece derby

By Oliver Fisher -

The day has finally arrives. Inter and AC Milan will contest the first derby of the season at San Siro this evening, with three points and bragging rights on the line.

This evening there will once again be a full and sold-out San Siro stadium. As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports this morning, it will certainly be a good money-maker for the Nerazzurri.

Tonight’s full house will earn Inter revenues of close €6.5m. The figure is far from the €12m that the Champions League semi-final against Milan earned.

However, only once in Serie A have the blue half of the city earned more: on 6 October 2019 when Cristiano Ronaldo had just arrived at Juventus. The game at San Siro that night earned €6.6m in ticket sales.

Moreover, the paper goes on to state that around 250 journalists and 12 broadcasters will be present, 7 of which are foreign, and the match will be broadcast in around 200 countries.
