Luka Jovic has become the only source of positivity in the AC Milan world over the past few weeks with the Serbian starting to chip in with goals.
As has been highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), there is very little to cheer about at Milan right now with serious reflections on the future of Stefano Pioli and a number of important players struggling to make an impact.
The 2-2 draw against Salernitana has been taken like a defeat given it is the kind of game that Milan simply have to win if they are to get back into the Serie A title race.
The point was rescued for Milan by Jovic’s opportunistic finish in the box after Olivier Giroud had nodded the ball down for him.
After a really tough start to his life at Milan, Jovic has now got three Serie A goals and he is chipping in with the sorts of goals that Milan wanted him to score when they offered him a one-year deal in the summer.
Whilst there is plenty going on around him, Jovic must continue to score at the rate he now is if he is to get a longer-term deal at Milan.
Please start him. Giroud was nothing short of terrible yesterday. Every touch was practically a disaster. He cannot be expected to perform at the highest level every single match.
We didn’t watch the same match. I agree that Jovic needs to get some starts though.
Jovo and okafor have in 5 months done more than rebić and origi in whole 22/23 season
…and CDK
Tomori scored more goals than CDK in the league…
Tomori also scored the same as Jovic and Okafor. 😀
Although some of his goals is when he play with Giroud, I want to know how he will perform on starting 11
The main differences i noticed is that he actually is trying to hold the ball, giroud always plays one touch ball with a lot of unnecessary backheel attempts.
If he can score double digit if would be a gift. But dunno if origi will come next month.
This Jovic I like. A pleasant surprise.
Pioli showing his brilliance: the hottest player stays on the bench until the last minutes. Match after match.
Pioli has always been like that. He has his favorites and he stands by them. Terrible or not… I mean look at how often Krunic used to start.
Not sure what else Jovic needs to do, short of blackmail, to get the start. He’s done really well with the limited minutes he had.
Indeed. He has his favorites and isn’t shy about it. Really motivating for the reserve players as they soon learn no matter how well they perform, they won’t be getting the starting 11 spot unless injuries happen.
Jovic and simic should have started against Salernitana, but as usual Pioli prefers his favorite players.
Jovic starts showing his worth, he must get more playing time so is Simic.
Milan probably have some their problem solved if both of them keep growing.
For Jovic, it is his chance to convice the management to extend his contract. However it is little bit difficult to prove his worth because his coach is Pioli.
One thing I really don’t understand… If you cannot play reserves against the worst team in the league and give them the opportunity to show they deserve more, then against who should the play? Napoli? Roma?
And we lost Tomori for month(s) because of that. Well played, Pioli. Well played.
*they
Well… Pioli sucks.
