GdS: Kjaer returns to being a leader at Milan after nullifying Kane

By Oliver Fisher -

Simon Kjaer had one of his best performances in a Milan shirt on Tuesday night as he dealt with Harry Kane and contributed massively to the clean sheet in the win over Spurs.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recall how Dane man-marked Kane following him around the field, never letting go or giving him an inch of space, any he fully exploited his physique to nullify the English striker.

The feeling is that Kjaer is finally back to 100% after his knee injury and he allowed Milan to obtain a second clean sheet in a row, something which had not happened for months.

For six months after knee surgery he only watched Milan, supporting his team-mates from the sidelines but unable to give his contribution. Now, he is back to being a leader just as he was at Wolfsburg and Roma.

Stefano Pioli has always reiterated that Kjaer is a winner and a driving force, someone who makes others play well like Kalulu, Tomori, Gabbia and now Thiaw. He motivates those around him, and against Tottenham he returned to play at a high level after a few difficult months, which could be the start of a rebirth.
