GdS: Krunic ‘mentally abandoned Milan a few weeks ago’ – replacement could arrive

AC Milan are looking to offload Rade Krunic in January because he seems to have given up on the idea of continuing his career with the club, according to a report.

Heading into the current season, Krunic was quite literally at the centre of head coach Stefano Pioli’s plans. He had switched to a 4-3-3, blocking the potential sale of the Bosnian because he saw him as the ideal man to anchor the midfield.

Krunic was not even named in the Milan squad for Tuesday night’s Coppa Italia victory against Cagliari at San Siro. The official reason from the club was ‘back problems’ but he had barely featured prior to that, all while there are exit rumours swirling.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) offered an overview of the January picture for Milan including the three signings that are expected.

They do not currently expect a new central midfielder to arrive, but write that Krunic ‘is only virtually in the squad because he mentally abandoned Milan a few weeks ago’.

They describe it as a ‘surprising choice for a player considered – until December – to be a great professional’. If an opportunity arises to replace him then a replacement could well arrive.

  1. So, who will throw the first stone and say Milan (and especially Pioli, Furlani, Cardinale etc.) destroyed the best midfielder of all-time? 🙂

  2. I’ll throw a different stone. Say what you will about Kessie at least he didn’t disappear his last season. I used to think Krunic was a pro, quality backup level player and good for the squad overall. But I’m offended, for a guy who tends to provide a direct assist to the opposition from time to time to disappear because he can’t wait 6 months to sign a new contract is entirely unprofessional. I used to be a fan now I’m apathetic he’s another Hakan, find your love ($$) somewhere else Lord Krunic

  3. He’s not even that good. In defense sure but his passing always triggered me. Always do a simple backpass, not even try to do creative passing to start the attack. He can’t anchor the midfield anymore that I can walk on water. And don’t get me started on him deliberately elbow acerbi on last year ucl semis. could have easily been sent off if had not been var is asleep. He’s a decent player and I’m grateful for his service in our team but if he is not willing to play anymore we should just let him go.
