GdS: La Maura not a downhill road – Milan’s plan to accelerate the process

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have set their sighs on the La Maura area for their new stadium and they are currently assessing the situation. However, the process is far from downhill and there are a couple of things to consider.

As stated in today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), the area currently has several environmental constraints. In short, there is already a pre-agreement for the sale from SNAI to FA3, with a plan in place for what happens next (a green park).

Milan have opened talks with the president of Lombardy as a program agreement could be put in place, which would significantly accelerate the process. We’re not talking about weeks, though, but months which is still better than no program agreement as it would take years (and unlikely to get voted through).

At this point, we must await the feasibility report of the Rossoneri, as that will decide whether they will move forward with the area or not. San Donato and Sesto San Giovanni remain options and in the coming weeks, the situation should be more clear.
