GdS: Lazio midfield star Milinkovic-Savic twice came close to joining Milan – the background

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were twice close to signing midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio, according to a report.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), the Serbia international was not far off becoming a new Rossoneri player on two occasions. The first was in the summer of 2017 when the Chinese ownership had just taken over and were keen on bolstering the squad with a number of big names taken.

The second was in the following summer, when the American fund Elliott Management took over. According to what was written by the paper, the most concrete negotiation to bring him to Milan was the one made by Yonghong Li’s group but it did not materialise due to the very high requests of Lazio president Claudio Lotito.

It comes after Mauro Suma reported earlier this month that Milan made a staggering offer for Milinkovic-Savic back in the summer of 2018 worth €120 that was rejected by Lazio.

    1. You need to learn to read before you try to insult someone else. Of course it was the Yonghong Li and Leonardo that made the offer.
