GdS: Liverpool join Arsenal in race for €50m+ midfielder as Milan scramble to secure renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is attracting interest from Premier League sides with Liverpool the latest to be linked, a report claims.

Milan want to hold on to Kessie who has become one of the pillars of Pioli’s team. Negotiations over the renewal of his contract – expiring in 2022 – have already started, but at the moment there is no agreement imminent it seems.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recently reported that Kessie’s market value has risen to €50m or more, with several English clubs – Arsenal above all – interested in the player. Chelsea and Spurs have also been linked with the player by various sources both in Italy and in England.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are hoping to close Kessie’s renewal as soon as possible, to please the 24-year-old and discourage the suitors. The midfielder has admirers especially in the Premier League with Liverpool mentioned in particular, but not only them. Despite this, Kessie seems happy to stay.

  1. If you can get €50m then take it and move on – no point being held to ransom again if the accounts can’t afford it.

I don’t think that’s an attainable price for someone in their last year, so take what you can get Paolo: €20-30m, go for it and reinvest it in the midfield IMO. The alternative is losing him for free in a year and the risk of him going to another Serie A club.
