GdS: Maldini and Massara towards Milan exit – who the new sporting director is likely to be

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are on course for yet another turnover of non-playing staff this summer with one man set for an increased role, a report claims.

There are various rumours in the media at present regarding the futures of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, technical director and sporting director respectively, with some outlets claiming both are destined to follow Zvonimir Boban out of the exit door.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan could start next season with a completely new management, with the only confirmation being that of CEO Ivan Gazidis. Boban has already been dismissed, while Maldini may leave the club in June and the position of Massara is also in doubt.

According to the paper, Hendrik Almstadt – Gazidis’ right hand man – is ready to take on the role of sporting director.

They add that Gazidis and the club’s owners are trying to convince Maldini to stay, but at the moment it is leaning more towards an exit than a stay, even if nothing is defined.
