GdS: Maldini facing Romagnoli dilemma as Juventus look for potential De Ligt replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are worried about losing centre-back Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer as Juventus are looming, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Milan will soon meet with Romagnoli to discuss his future given that his contract expires at the end of the season. The Rossoneri paid €25m to sign him back in 2015 from Roma and has a salary that is now €6m net per season including bonuses.

Maldini and Massara have been left with a dilemma because they must try and keep salaries under control while at the same time rivals Juventus are admirers of the player from a technical point of view, given they must look for Giorgio Chiellini’s heir and Matthjis De Ligt’s future is uncertain.

There will soon be an initial meeting between Milan and Romagnoli given the urgency of the situation, and during that discussion the cards of both parties will be put on the table. A renewal offer at a reduced salary is expected, but it is difficult for the player to accept those terms.
