GdS: From Maldini’s future to Leao – Cardinale’s agenda while in Milan

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale will be in the city for the game against Tottenham on Tuesday evening. However, that won’t be the only matter on his agenda, a report claims.

Cardinale and his RedBird Capital took over Milan at the start of this season and after a disappointing run in the league this year, he has received some criticism. The scheduled arrival couldn’t have come at a better time, therefore.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), there are four key points on Cardinale’s agenda. 1) He will sit down with the management of Milan to discuss the technical and financial balance, as well as the future of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara after a disappointing summer mercato. Evaluations, of course, will be delayed until the summer.

2) The future of Rafael Leao will also be discussed as RedBird have sanctioned a significant contract offer for the Portuguese winger (€6m per year until 2027). If an agreement can be found, he will stay but if not, he will be sold in the summer.

3) The stadium project has, much like the Leao negotiations, hit a standstill as well and Cardinale will be briefed on the latest. Sesto San Giovanni now seems like the likely option for Milan.

4) Finally, he will also speak with the commercial employees about boosting Milan’s brand further. The work with the New York Yankees has helped the club a lot and Cardinale wants to continue on that path.

  1. Yeah, Leao is leaving and we will increase Giroud wages and keep paying Origi 4M as well. It would be better if we got rid of both of them and given what Leao asked for…
