GdS: Maldini, Ibrahimovic, the coaching situation and sponsors – Gazidis springs into action

By Oliver Fisher -

CEO Ivan Gazidis has a number of crucial points on his agenda to try and resolve the various uncertainties facing AC Milan at present, a report claims.

According to Tuesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the corporate chaos – which led to the dismissal of Zvonimir Boban and possibly that of Paolo Maldini once the season is over – has put Gazidis at ‘the centre of the Milan universe’.

Gazidis is essentially managing all areas of the club, including the sports area, and his agenda is obviously full of commitments. Among the most important points to be addressed is that relating to Maldini’s future.

The two are in contact, but there hasn’t been a face-to-face yet, however the former Rossoneri captain seems set on completing the current season and leaving.

Another point on Gazidis’ list of tasks is the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Milan’s intention is to deal with the topic after the season has ended, but the Swede himself is considering what to do.

The coaching situation is also to be decided: the stock of Rangnick is down, while that of Pioli continues to rise. Finally, Gazidis will also have to deal with the commercial aspect, trying to increase revenues through attracting new sponsors, an incredibly difficult task given the current socio-economic climate.
