GdS: Mandzukic knows top four finish for Milan would net him a €4m extension

By Oliver Fisher -

Mario Mandzukic has an extra reason to fight and try to secure Champions League qualification for AC Milan, a report claims.

The Croatian arrived as a free agent in the January transfer window on an initial deal until the end of the season, but there is an option to extend it for another year.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Mandzukic knows that if Milan secure qualification for next season’s edition of the Champions League, his renewal will be automatically activated.

The paper writes that there is already an agreement in place at around €4million net. The Croatian centre-forward, therefore, looks to the future with reasonable confidence given that Milan are sitting atop the Serie A table with a nine-point advantage over fifth-placed Lazio.

We have seen less than 60 minutes of Mandzukic in action thus far but his first start could very well come next week in Belgrade against Red Star in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32.
