Soualiho Meite made only his second appearance for Milan last night as Stefano Pioli opted to field him as the trequartista behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic. An interesting choice that didn’t exactly improve their game.
As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the manager’s decision wasn’t convincing and above all, it didn’t pay off for the Rossoneri. In hindsight, perhaps it was a mistake to put the midfielder in that position.
He has only just joined the team and for such an important game, you can certainly question Pioli’s judgment. Especially if you consider that Brahim Diaz did well against Cagliari in the same role, and also when he came off the bench.
Pioli will have to study the timing and methods of the new arrivals well, thus creating balance in the team. The team is different from the one he started the season with and now he needs to adapt the players.
