GdS: Mendes sounds out Real Madrid despite Milan star making wish clear

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan continue to struggle when Rafael Leao is not available and in the meantime Jorge Mendes is sounding out interested clubs, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) highlights how Milan are seemingly a different entity with Leao versus without him, as the sharp drop in their points per game shows.

The delicate moment that the team are going through and the heat of the battle for a top four spot means it is probably not the time to try and close Leao’s renewal, with discussions instead expected to resume in April.

Despite this, Jorge Mendes – an agent still close to Leao despite the player signing his power of attorney over to family lawyer Ted Dimvula – has spoken to Real Madrid about the Portuguese forward ahead of the summer window.

However, it seems to be a very impervious idea because Los Blancos already have Vinicius Jr. for the left wing role and for the summer they have other important investments in mind such as Jude Bellingham.

Leao also sincerely intends to stay with the Rossoneri but there are still major obstacles, above all that of compensation owed to Sporting CP. For now, his focus must remain on the field.

  1. “Leao also sincerely intends to stay”

Yeah. All those “Let’s see what happens in the summer” statements really show his “sincere intends”. 😀 😀 😀

    1. Well, it is best for Milan to wait until summer. There are big chances Milan not reach Champions League next year, and than what will happen? Than they must sell someone and Leao could be first to leave. So it’s best and easiest way when he is on low salary.
In my opinion even if Milan reach Champions League, Milan must give Leao much more to close his contract, and he will not sign under this current offer.

    2. Exactly!
Everything points on his departure in the summer: his game, the attitude towards the extension, Mendes’s behaviour.
      Leao is out, 100 percent
The question is who’s going to replace him. Probably Okafor

  2. You gotta love how the media makes these agents to be the bad guys and the players the good guys.
The agent works for the player. Not the other way around.
Do people really think that if the player’s wish is to stay with Milan that his agent will go around “sounding off” Real Madrid or any other clubs?
And if Leao “sincerely intends to stay” he would sign the contract offered, which reportedly is worth 7 mil a season. That would “sincerely” help him in paying off his debt towards Sporting.
The thing with Sporting is a Leao issue and no one else. Milan shouldn’t pay a cent of that money Leao owes Sporting. He and his agents need to pay that, or they can hurry up and try to find a sucker club out there to pay that for them, as long Milan isn’t the sucker club.
We are not talking about 100-200k or 1-2 mil, but he owes his old club 19 mil. Napoli paid half that for Kvara who is outperforming Leao, but we suppose to pay double that for Leao’s and Mendes mistakes, on top of already paying over 30 mil to sign him and offering him 7 mil a season salary?
    Nah, you not that guy.

        1. Jesus does what Jesus does: Finds a way to add the word “idiot” to his every post. His contribution to this site is invaluable.

  3. Mendez travelling to all europe offering leao to rich club. If AC Milan failed to sell leao in summer that will be huge loss for AC Milan but for leao big money
