GdS: €50m or no deal – Milan make Bennacer demand clear amid Saudi interest

Ismael Bennacer has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer and AC Milan have already made the price tag clear: €50m. As highlighted by a report, this is the value of the release clause in his contract.

The 2023-24 season was not the best for Bennacer, missing half of it due to knee surgery before failing to find consistency. As such, he’s not considered unsellable by Milan but they won’t give him up for free either, knowing that he has a contract until 2027.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Milan will only let the midfielder leave if a club pays the €50m release clause. They are not wiling to let him leave for anything less and this has already been communicated to the Saudi Arabian clubs interest.

In particular, Al-Ittihad have expressed an interest although it seems Stefano Pioli won’t be taking over the side. Should Bennacer leave, then the proceeds from the sale – between the release clause and wages saved – would be reinvested on the mercato.

Ben Jacobs reported yesterday that Bennacer is open to a move, so everything depends on the Saudi clubs and their willingness to sign the player.

    1. No he won’t, he had 1-2 good seasons but after injury he is just a shadow. We don’t know if he can get back to his top disposition or he will end up in 2 years loaned to some Sassuolo.

  1. There are only 5 transfers to the Saudi league that went 50m or over.
Much better players went there for far less than 50 mil.
They pay high salaries over there but they don’t spend as much as we think on transfers.
Neymar is the biggest transfer for 90m, but Neymar is a superstar. No other player was bought for more than 60 mil.

  2. They spent similar sum last year on Ruben Neves so they can easily pay his release clause. I hope we keep him. Under Fonseca the new system will suit Bennacer.

  3. This is rich from the bunch of clowns. They insist on €50 milliion for Bennacer ….. but Kia is wrong to insist on his €15 million for Zirkzee.
    OMG.

    1. They insist because they have the leverage with the release clause. That is good business for them. Why shouldn’t they request the release clause? And why should they pay absurd commissions.

This isn’t fifa career mode lol

    2. They insist on 50M€ for Bennacer because it’s his release clause. If they want to settle for less why put that clause in the first place ?
Paying Kia 15M€ is gonna set us for a lot of troubles in the future. Can you imagine in 2 or 3 years trying to renew to Zirzkee ? 15M€ for a comission will put him on par with the likes of Cristiano, Neymar, Suarez,… for a release clause of 40M€.

    3. ^^ How to say one doesn’t understand anything about finances without saying one doesn’t understand anything about finances.

  4. True but I don’t see why Milan should let him leave for pennies either. The clause is there for a reason and if the Saudis want him and he wants to go there they just have to pay.
50M€ (or even 40M€) can be a huge deal for us.

  5. I agree his release clause is set if Saudis want him that is his fee. However, now that Pioli may be out of going to Saudi league will that persuade Bennacer not to go

  6. I think they might be a bit too optimistic here. They need to get off his salary. Same with florenzi but most importantly origi. That’s 11M a year to go to Mike and Theo and a new signing or 2…they need to secure those moves so they know what they have to work with.
