AC Milan will set a new box office record in Serie A thanks to the derby tomorrow, expected to collect €8.7m from ticket sales.
Over the years, Milan and Inter have both increased their ticket prices by quite a lot, especially for the big games. The derby clashes in the Champions League semi-final were primary examples of this, but the league games haven’t escaped the increases either.

It’s actually something that we looked at in our latest long read on Substack, highlighting how some sections have increased by 110-130% since the 2022-23 season (!). This is deeply troubling, but on paper, the Rossoneri will get to register a record.
New record confirmed
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see the featured image), due to the high ticket prices for this derby, Milan will set a new box office record in Serie A. The final amount is expected to be over €8.7m, beating Inter’s previous record of €8.64m from the reverse fixture.
Despite the high prices, the tickets sold quickly for the game and 75.5k fans are expected in the stands. It will be Milan’s highest-grossing game since the derby last season, when they reached €7.3m from the ticket sales.
Furthermore, with another sold-out stadium, Milan will confirm themselves as the attendance winners this season: the current average of 72.8k will be increased tomorrow, giving them even more distance down to Inter’s average of 71.7k
Nearly 100 countries will be represented by those who have bought tickets for the game, while it will also be visible in over 200 countries thanks to broadcasting. It should make for a fantastic one under the San Siro lights, even if the situation in the standings could have been better.
Indeed, the initial goal was to reach this game with five points separating the Rossoneri from their rivals, meaning a win would have decreased the gap to just two points. Instead, a win would get them within seven points of their rivals.
