AC Milan are still looking for a new sporting director ahead of next season, not entirely convinced by either of the candidates at the moment. As such, according to a report, they could abandon the pursuit altogether.
In the last few months, several names have been linked with the job, from Igli Tare to Tony D’Amico and Giovanni Sartori. However, none of these leads are convincing to CEO Giorgio Furlani so far, Tare seemingly for his merits and D’Amico because of the contract tying him to Atalanta.
As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (see photo below), Milan could abandon the pursuit and continue with the current structure. How? The responsibilities and tasks of each round would be properly defined to avoid confusion, and the hierarchy would be reiterated.
In that scenario, Furlani would keep his spot at the very top, while the mercato would be entrusted to Geoffrey Moncada (he has the Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders deals in his favour). Zlatan Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, would continue as a ‘super consultant’ for the ownership.
For now, all decisions have been postponed until the end of the season, with Milan wanting no distraction ahead of the Coppa Italia final. Not everything has been stopped, though, as renewal talks are ongoing non-stop as per the newspaper.
The reliable journalist Matteo Moretto has previously rejected the idea of no new sporting director, so it remains to be seen if he will reiterate that now.

Told yall, it isn’t that no one is convincing as candidates. It is no one is convinced they want to take the fall for having no autonomy in this brain dead team management philosophy.
Everyone is telling them, you hire me, give me the money to do my job and let me do it, stay out ny way. Your team finished in 5th when you took it over. Now it is in 9th. You have no say in how I do my job, you tried it yourself and failed. Furliani and Cardinale’s fragile egos won’t allow them to let anyone operate independently enough to do a good job as well as be accountable for their decisions.
Redbird should buy Sampdoria or Genoa, sell us. Their philosophy and budget could elevate that team. Midtable players and those fit for titles are not in the same price ranges. They are not suited for a club like ours. Cheap transfers can be fine when you have no problem finishing 14th, or 15th, are playing to be a farm system.
HAHAHAHAHAH what a shit show management
What does it have to take for them to just sell us to a more competent group because im not exaggerating when i say this is the worst Milan managment in history of this club.
I somehow started to get this feeling yesterday, but if this is true, then I hope RedBird fails to pay their loan so Elliot takes back the club in 2026 or so.
Moncada only scouts french players or Ligue 1 players and got us to spend 250M€ only to fbe 9th 20 points behind the leader with no UCL prospect next season and eliminated 2 seasons in a row before the round of 16 but we’re somehow supposed to believe that “3rd time is charm” or whatever ?
Yes let’s just “define” the roles better my a$$, an incompetent will always be an incompetent with or without a clear role.
And don’t give me “none of these leads are convincing to CEO Giorgio Furlani”, it’s clear that they want actual autonomy and power wich RedBird won’t give them.
Do you want us to believe that Furlani and Cardinale were convinced by Ibrahimović with no experience and Ligue 1 scout Moncada but not Tare ?
Elliott is already in charge. Redbird has zero pull here. Furlani calling the shots and ibra hasn’t said a word since Furlani’s trip to meet Cardinale in America.
Elliott’s goal IS to sell off but Furlani is doing a p!$$poor job of trying to “repolish” Milan for that to happen.
Having said that, GDS is just throwing sh!t to the wall to see what sticks…
GDS is probably throwing sh!t to the wall but the fact of the matter is we still don’t have a SD and since we have many articles pointing towards many possibilies that means we’re not even close to having one.
And we’re supposedly want him to start working ASAP…
Yes because it’s worked perfectly so far……we’re screwed
they need a reality check ✅
“… the mercato would be entrusted to Geoffrey Moncada (he has the Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders deals in his favour).”
And 190 millions in other garbage bought. Cannot wait for more money wasting and more garbage piling. Hopefully they will be enough to try and challenge for Conference League next season🙏
Exactly. 2 out of 20+ signings. Less than ten percent of his signings work out. And that’s who we’re still trusting to rebuild. We’ll be rebuilding 10 percent at a time.
The pic of those 4 clowns makes me vomit ….. pretending to be gods when in reality they are 4 idiots.
The lesson to be learnt from all this is that after all furlani has achieved his objective – he will continue as milan’s factotum (more properly written as FUKCTOTUM).
Shocking. Not. It’s really not surprising. I was thinking that they would choose the second worst option of waiting until July 20 for Paratici, despite “needing a DS to start work as soon as possible”, but now this. No new DS at all. The worst option might be chosen and while I hadn’t really considered it, I’m not surprised. And around we go. Oh well.
Love how they slipped this in: “ The reliable journalist Matteo Moretto has previously rejected the idea of no new sporting director, so it remains to be seen if he will reiterate that now.”
So more BS from the media to make Milan look bad and get fans
Wow, 😮
Nothing will change! 😞
The same brainless management ruins our proudness and honour!
Guys, money talks and dogs dogs bark.
Sad,sad,sad…
I’ve told you several times this season:
Watching this Milan team is a waste of time 😞😞😞
LOLOLOLO
I have been saying this ever since Gerry took over. We are a commodity to be bought and sold. No intention of winning titles – that costs lots of $$ in today’s football – and Redbird do NOT have it. We will continue ur to longer on the fringes of a UCL spot if not worse until Gerry sells – hopefully this summer
All you Redbird Lovers – I hate to say I told you so – BUT I DID 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The management only want ‘Yes man’, and they don’t want sporting director who has big say, that’s why Milan is 9th in the league, all the clubs have proper sporting director but not Milan.
I wonder 💭 how long it takes for them to realize their mistakes past seasons after they sack Maldini…..then again Maldini got Origi and he is still ‘stone around the neck’ for Milan, so probably signing Origi and let go of key players for free cost Maldini job….
So… We’ll be shopping only in France or French players. Fkng awesome!!!!
