GdS: Milan accelerate pursuit of Chukwueze with €25m agreement in sight

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan still have Samuel Chukwueze at the top of their wish list and are expected to make one last push before abandoning the pursuit. According to a report, the Rossoneri are well aware of how to close the deal.

As reported in today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), Milan still have both Mehdi Taremi and Samuel Chukwuexe on their radar. The latter player seems to be a slight favourite for the time being, wth the Rossoneri ready to accelerate pursuit.

The talks with Villarreal have been ongoing on two fronts, namely for Chukwueze as well as Arnaut Danjuma. The demands have been high for the Nigerian thus far but the Spanish side are still negotiating, which is an important signal.

Milan know that an agreement could most likely be reached at €25m, either by increasing the bonuses of their most recent offer or increasing the base of it. Meanwhile, an agreement has already been reached with the player at €4m per season.

Of course, signing Chukwueze would rule out Taremi as the former would take the final non-EU spot. Speaking of which, the negotiations with Porto have not moved forward, as the Portuguese side seem unwilling to negotiate unlike Villarreal.

Finally, Danjuma could arrive as an all-round man for the attack and there are talks over a loan worth €4m. The clubs need to decide if the option to buy should be mandatory or not, but a happy ending is expected.

  1. By the way apparently Danjuma is accelerating towards Everton and they are more inclined to spend the 4M loan, so not sure how real this is but I know Pioli told the management to make Chukwueze the priority for that non EU spot now over taremi

    1. Lets hope so. I rather see we sign Chukwueze then Taremi and sign Dia instead who have proven he can score in the league. Also Dia is like 5 years younger then Taremi

      1. completely agree, Dia’s release clause of 25M expires this afternoon though and that coupled with the friendly makes the Dia track looks unlikely unfortunately

  2. If they sign Danjuma AND Chukwueze we have like 7 wingers in a possible 4-3-3. Leao, Danjuma (possibly a forward), Rebic to the left and Chukwueze, Pulisic, Messias and Saelsmaekers to the right. They better start offloading wingers and be able to sell Rebic, Messias and possibly Saelsmaekers to raise funds for another forward. Unless Pioli wanna stick with 4-2-3-1 and use Pulisic and De Ketelaere as an offensive midfielder and Danjuma as a backup attacker to Giroud? In which case the dubble pivot position will be overcrowded with Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders, Krunic, Pobega and Bennacer fighting for two spots.

Guess we’ll see what formation Pioli will be leaning towards by which players they will sell/loan out the coming weeks.

      1. Yeah just saw. Not a big loss imo. Now they can focus on Chukwueze and Musah who I think are more important to land.

  3. Villarreal is really playing hard ball. Happy Danjuma is tilting towards Everton. Don’t really see him as a top 9. More of a winger. I think Milan should move on, and sign Isaksen and Taremi. The more we keep going back, the more they keep proving difficult. Leave them, and Chukwueze’s contract will run down by June 2024. No other team is going for him as we are. More so, he wants the Milan move too.

  4. Danjouma is about to join Everton. So that won’t be an option. If Chuk does join, then that limits our CF search even more. But we need one badly. We are ALL midfield and NO strikers.
