GdS: Milan accelerate talks to renew Donnarumma – may have found best solution

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are ready to accelerate the talks to renew Gigio Donnarumma’s contract. The Rossoneri initially decided to postpone any issues until the end of the season, but in this case, they will make an exception.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), Ivan Gazidis will soon meet Mino Raiola to discuss the future. The current deal will expire in 2021 and thus Donnarumma can negotiate with other clubs at the start of next year.

This is a risk that Milan can’t afford to take, for technical and image reasons. That being said, though, Donnarumma has already expressed his will to stay at the club and furthermore, he would never want to leave on a free transfer.

In short, all the roads are leading to the renewal. The Rossoneri could confirm the current salary, €6m per year, not offering a long-term renewal but rather a few years. A release clause could also be added, which seems to be the best solution.
