GdS: Milan have four alternative striker targets to Zirkzee – the names

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are in the market for a new striker this summer and whilst Joshua Zirkzee is the most likely to sign, there are other names that the Rossoneri could pursue in the coming months.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), Bologna striker Zirkzee is not the only striker’s name on Milan’s list of summer transfer targets.

The most likely second choice would be RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, as he is one of the best young strikers in Europe and has been in good form this season.

The three other names are Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Sporting CP’s Victor Gyokeres and Lille’s Jonathan David. The latter has been linked with a move to Milan almost constantly over the past 18 months and may prove to be the cheapest option.

Sesko and Zirkzee are different types of forwards in the sense that Sesko is more physical and conventional, whilst Zirkzee has been in the better form this season and perhaps has more natural talent.

Milan have made bids for David in the past and he is out of contract in 2025, whilst contact was also made for Gyokores when he was still at Coventry City. There is reason to believe that Milan can pursue every one of these players with some success, they just need to decide which one.

  1. Gyokeres but…we needed him a lot more than we needed expensive cover for Pulisic last summer (I’m not saying Chuk isn’t a good player, but there’s no denying we’d have coped fine without his minutes this season), so the 50m – if not more if his numbers stay on the same path, will taste very bitter.

        1. by very good you mean he scored a handfull of goals? And some people said he was the best winger in spain. You dont buy the best winger in spain for 20-25M€

        2. It seems maybe that la Liga is just better suited for his type of play, who knows ?
Also with Villareal, he never had double digits in either goals or assists, so we essentially went for a player not that efficient. Not gonna lie though, when I saw his highlights during the summer, I thought we got ourselves the equivalent of Leao on the right wing.
For the summer, I have a dream of using Pulisic mainly as an AM and get Berardi, but I don’t think this is going to happen.
