GdS: Milan and Inter remain vigilant as Papu Gomez prepares for Atalanta exit

By Isak Möller -

The January transfer window usually isn’t full of opportunities, as clubs are very aware of, but there is always a few ones that several clubs battle it out over. Papu Gomez is a perfect example, set to leave Atalanta this month.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Argentine midfielder will say goodbye to the club following the dispute with Gian Piero Gasperini. He will, therefore, leave the club that brought him back into the spotlight.

The likes of Milan, Inter, Napoli and Roma are all moving in the shadows to secure the services of Gomez in the coming weeks. That being said, Atalanta have been very clear that they won’t make any discount despite the special situation.

A move to the Rossoneri, therefore, perhaps is a bit unlikely but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are keeping an eye on the situation. In the meantime, they are pursuing other targets on the market.
