Fikayo Tomori played from start in England’s Euro Qualifier against Malta yesterday evening, but he was replaced after 45 minutes. AC Milan are now anxiously awaiting an update on the defender’s condition, a report claims.
Gareth Southgate finally gave Tomori the chance from start in a competitive game. However, the Milan defender was forced to play as a left-back and this didn’t exactly make things easy. After just 45 minutes, he was replaced.
However, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (via SempreMilan), the substitution was not because of his performance. Instead, he received two knocks to the right ankle and thus couldn’t continue. He’s expected to undergo further tests today, if required.
Milan are anxiously awaiting an update on his condition, seeing as they already have an injury crisis in defence. Tomori has been a key player since the start of the season and the Rossoneri will be hoping that the knocks didn’t cause any damage, just discomfort.
England ended up winning the game 2-0 despite a rather poor performance from the entire team. Tomori’s performance, therefore, shouldn’t be judged too seriously especially since he played as a left-back.
