GdS: Milan at the window as ‘unsettled’ €35m Italy international considers pushing for exit

By Oliver Fisher -

Alex Meret is unsettled at Napoli having fallen behind David Ospina and AC Milan could pounce, according to a report.

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s is once again at a crossroads as his deal expires in 2021, meaning Milan must either agree a renewal or sell this summer, so as to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in just over a year.

One of the possible replacements who has been repeatedly linked is Meret, who has seen his game time cut due to the fact Gennaro Gattuso has seemingly picked Ospina as his No.1.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Meret is ‘discontent’ and is considering pushing to leave the Partenopei this summer, especially with the European Championships beckoning next year.

In this sense, Milan are among the teams interested in the player in the event of Donnarumma’s departure. Meret cost Napoli €35m when he signed from Udinese two years ago, as per Wikipedia, and the 23-year-old is contracted to Napoli until 2023.
