GdS: Milan set for a change in attack when they face Cagliari

By Euan Burns -

Luka Jovic is set to make his first start for AC Milan as Stefano Pioli aims to rotate his squad for the trip to face Cagliari on Wednesday night, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Jovic is going to get a chance to impress from the first whistle against Cagliari which naturally suggests that Olivier Giroud will get a rest.

This would be the first time that the Serbian starts for the Rossoneri after he signed from Fiorentina on a one-year deal at the very end of the summer transfer window.

It will be a major relief for Pioli if he is able to give Giroud a meaningful rest whilst still having a striker on the pitch who helps the team and perhaps grabs a goal.

It was clear against Verona that Giroud cannot cope with the fixture list which is very understandable given he is 36 years old.

  1. Man i am so furious that we have to watch this guy who has slept his last 3 years instead of keeping Colombo as backup for Giroud. That decision is probably in top5 stupid decisions in last 10 years. Trying to wake up Jovic’s carrier instead of developing your own kid …

    1. I’d prefer to stick with Colombo too. But the way I see it, we had a full confidence in signing Taremi and already gave our words to Galliani about loaning Colombo. So when that Taremi fiasco happened, we had no choice but to look for a back up striker on the very last day of the market (something I really hate to see). Clearly Jovic was not our plan B, hell maybe not even a plan C or D, as we also connected with other names before him.

Now we have no choice but to give our full support to Jovic as he’s one of ours. I don’t know but I kinda like this guy on his last appearance. Once he got the full fitness, maybe then we can give him the full assessment.

      And I really wanna see this on our forward line up next match;
      Pulisic / Okafor – Jovic – Chuk.

      1. Both training and third kit are rubbish. They could choose from red, black, white, gold to mix up the kits. They go with blue.

In Jenny’s words: “are you stup*d or somethin’?”

        1. Ted is the blue the colour of the bruise that Milan have and continue to wear under the defeats of Inter?

I agree the new kit is rubbish I don’t believe its the kit of a champion Rosso Neri, would I buy it NO!

    2. Young talent like Colombo needs to play more as starter and not as a backup. That’s why they loan him to multiple clubs so he can gain a lot of experiences as starter. Once he gained enough experience, they will call him back so he can fight his place as a starter.

    3. Setuju Bang, Pioli berkali kali membuang talenta muda Milan,,,seperti Gabbia, Colombo dll,, , Adli, CDK juga gak bs maksimal dgn skema Pioli,,, mg lalu jg kalah lawan Inter dgn gol cepat, padahal sdh berkali kali kemasukan gol dgn cara yg sama lawan Inter. Pioli gmn nih…
      Salam Milanisti

  2. The problem with Colombo is that he is not actually that good. He doesnt score enough and its unlikely he ever will. At least jovic can refind his form as it was there once.

  3. The the part about Colombo is correct. The part about Jovic less so. A check of his stats does not show some bomber that lost form. There is only one good season in 2018/29 in the Bundesliga at 32 games, 17 goals and 6 assists, and in the EL where he was 14/10/1. The rest of it is 22/6/2, 19/5/2, 17/2/1, 18/4/1, 15/1/3, 31/6/3, etc. Not exactly numbers that make you quake in your boots.
