GdS: Milan intensify their chase for Bundesliga striker despite having other targets

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy by strengthening their contact with the player to better understand his level of interest.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are trying to keep as many of their striker options open as possible coming into the summer and Guirassy is one of the players on the list.

Guirassy would be the cheapest option available to Milan given he has a release clause of €17.5m, but he is also older than the other targets at 28 years old and won’t definitely be able to replicate his Stuttgart form in Italy.

Milan may want to keep Guirassy interested so that if a move for someone like Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna or Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig does not come off, there is an affordable option.

Guirassy has scored a staggering 25 Bundesliga goals in 24 appearances this season and has attracted interest from all over Europe, so it may not take long for his release clause to be triggered. He has also scored twice in the DFB Pokal.

With Olivier Giroud leaving for LAFC, Milan need to ensure they bring in a prolific striker this summer.

  1. One year wonder in a championship where there are no defenses, poor record before that in Ligue 1 he was barely a starter. Looks like Kolo Muani who is struggling with PSG this season. Maybe he could be good from the bench.

    1. Or maybe he’s just a late bloomer. At 28 he’d be in his peak and if he could deliver 15-20 goals a season. Why not? It’s a steal for 18M.

      1. Yeah I don’t know I’m not a professional scout but there may be 1 late bloomer forward from Bundesliga for 100 one year wonders. It looks like it’s an easy championship for strikers. Look at Kolo Muani, he was poor with Nantes, exploded in BL and now he’s poor with PSG. I had Guirassy in my L1 fantacalcio team one year ago and he was bad haha

        1. Well i think we should just cash out on Šeško. Pay 50M clause and then let the kid decide if he wants to step up or stay in lepzig..

Guirassy is a total wild card. But a cheap one

    2. Marcus Thuram is also from Bundesliga.
Kolo Muani would score 15 goals minimum in Serie A.
Guirassy was impressive this season and not only for the goal scoring. He can hold the ball, playing one touch, carrying it forward. If you can make a bet for 17m, it is a no brainer.
I would prefer him over Zirkzee, but the dream would be Viktor Gyokeres.

      1. @Albek. I agree. People on here talking rubbish about 1 season hit wonder but they want Zirkzee who is not a center forward and can’t even score 15goals.

My dream striker for Milan is Artem Dovbek from Girona. He’s Ukrainian and he would do great at Milan. I find it a bit shocking that we are not even linked to him. This guy is a monster in and outside the penalty box.

    3. No defences hmmm….. germans knows how to play tough footbal compared to a lot of european countries so i have to disagree here.

    4. Last three seasons: 27, 14, 12. Those aren’t terrible. And it’s more than the player he’s replacing. God forbid we switch to a two striker system, might start scoring more goals.

  2. So why two German Clubs are still in Champions League semifinal if their league have weak defense? To reach 20 or more goals in top league isn’t easy as it seems, only few players can achieve that, maybe management have foreseen that player in term of technical and non technical aspects

    1. Bayern went through with 2-3 and bvb with 4-5..
      Good defense? Nani?

Also both those clubs have eaten almost as many goals as Milan.. bayern 37 bvb 35.. good defense, a?

      1. presently in all the top 5 leagues only inter-Milan concede the fewest goals..

they are not good individual defenders these days. arsenal have lost with 5 goals, same as Chelsea. man u concede more than 3 goals from mid and bottom table team week in week out. even Liverpool were beaten with 3goals margin.

        1. smooth cherry picking.. then you look for top 4 and see juve and bologna with 26 goals each while Milan proudly boasts 39 goals.. i dont care about premier and who beats who

  3. We could really benefit from two new/younger strikers but probably only if someone worth at least 50mil is sold.

Not sure what’s going on with Mike, Adli, Bennacer this summer.
