GdS: Milan could include Colombo as counterpart in Frattesi offer – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Davide Frattesi is one of AC Milan’s key targets for the midfield after the departure of Sandro Tponali. Next week will be decisive for the negotiation and Lorenzo Colombo could be included, a report claims.

Milan agreed to sell their star Tonali to Newcastle for around €70m and must now reinvest the money on the market. The priority, of course, is to find a direct replacement and Frattesi has ended up at the top of the list.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, next week will be decisive as Milan are set to meet with Sassuolo. Inter already have an agreement at €35m and the price tag has since risen to €40m, which is a lot for the Rossoneri.

The solution, therefore, could be to include a counterpart and a player that Sassuolo like a lot is Lorenzo Colombo. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Lecce and was bought back by Milan, after the former exercised the buy-out clause.

Colombo has a value of around €10m and could thus lower the cash amount to €30m in the Frattsi deal. Other options are Daniel Maldini and Tommaso Pobega, even if the latter is unlikely to accept the move and Milan also need him in midfield.

  1. Imo just don’t go for frattesi, sassuolo are always asking for loads of money and its clear we just shouldn’t try shopping there

  2. They could include Rebic or Messias or Fode Balo + €25 to get Frates. Any other player would be a very bad deal for Milan.

    1. Lol, Sassuolo won’t take on Rebic’s salary and the other two aren’t going to be much to them. You realise Sassuolo and the players have to want the move too? Young players can be of use to them because they’re good at developing them; no doubt if Colombo or Maldini go there one of them will be worth more than Frattesi in a couple of years….

        1. @Martin …. agreed. Probably Redbird are used to US sports where you can interchange assets easily.

Most players don’t have a loyalty to a specific NBA/NHL team (some do of course) and given the cyclical nature of the process they are happy to move even to a low ranked team as within a few years they could be challenging for the title

Doesn’t work like that in football as its not a set salary cap, draft system etc so its not cyclical, ie mid table Sassuolo aren’t likely to challenge for Serie A title in the next decade, and they can’t afford the same wages as the top sides. So we can’t just offload our unwanted players to just any side, players aren’t “trading cards” as you mentioned, unlike in the US

          1. Like Chris Paul the other day was giving an interview on a show and didn’t know they traded him at that moment from the Sun’s to Warriors lol 😂. They perhaps think that’s how it works here or something I dunno

  3. Who will replace colombo as 3rd striker? Origoat? We still need colombo for 3rd striker , better offer sassoulo daniel maldini since we have CDK ,adili ,and maybe kamada in AMF

        1. Getting to the youth UCL is a great achievement. Juve reaped the benefits of giving chances to their Primavera players. Would you rather see Origi or Morata in attack or a boy from our Primavera?

  4. Chaos continues !!! I was thinking Milan management will go for Wahi. Colombo should be brought back to Milan. If not now maybe in the future.

  5. In my honest opinion problem is Furlani
He doesn’t have connections with other italian clubs
Times back Galiani and Braida could sign any italian players with their charm and connections.
    Maldini was respected being legend.
We brought Nesta from Lazio back then since Galiani was friend with President Lotito.
Galiani was one and only one.

Furlani is Stupidini. One and only.
