GdS: Milan considering bringing forward signing of €22m Real Madrid playmaker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are already thinking of exercising their option to buy Brahim Diaz outright from Real Madrid, despite the fact there is a buy-back involved.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan consider Diaz to be at the centre of their project, and the starting attacking midfielder. That is why the management are seriously thinking of bringing forward his permanent signing from Los Blancos.

Brahim arrives from Real Madrid on a paid two-year loan which means that the Spaniard will remain with the Rossoneri until June 2023, but Milan also reserved an option for his permanent signing set at €22m. Real will have the chance to be able to buy Diaz back by paying around €27m, but Milan are not worried about that and will proceed as planned.

Brahim would not get as much playing time at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti so now it is only necessary to decide if and when to attempt his signing outright.

  1. So how does this work exactly. on loan he is guaranteed with us until June 2023 but if we would buy him, couldn’t Real Madrid just buy him back and get him instantly back if they want? Shouldn’t we wait with buying him until May 2023?

      1. It´s a very strange one, also when does the buyback option expire? or can Real get him for 27 mil whenever they want?? if so, that could lead to huge problems down the line.

  2. Too bad we will lose Diaz…no way Real doesn’t exercise their option to buy him back. May as well wait until end of 2 year loan then see what happens…

  3. Well there’s an example that club paid for more than option to buy value (example paid RM 25M for Diaz) to get the buyback clause removed… But not sure Real will accept it. Maybe hope Ancelotti get fired in 1 season and the new coach don’t rate Diaz?
