GdS: Milan decide on maximum offer to Leao and minimum price in case of sale

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a minimum asking price for Rafael Leao in their mind as the summer window approaches with no renewal yet secured, a report claims.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are now waiting for a response after making an offer worth €6.5m net per season plus bonuses, which they will not raise as it is considered the best deliverable offer.

It would see his current salary more than quadruple, and it seems that at the moment salary will not be an issue because the distance of about €500k per year is bridgeable.

However, Leao wants his release clause to go down from €150m to €70-80m at most as well as a hand in the compensation to be paid to Sporting CP, which Milan do not want to be involved in.

Despite the social media hints from Leao and the words of his lawyer Ted Dimvula, Milan are having to think about the next steps and if the negotiation continues to stagnate they will be forced to think about a sale.

If they were forced into selling this summer then the management would not go below triple digits with their asking price. The €150m clause would be ideal, while a meeting point could be found at €120m, with €100m as the absolute bare minimum.

If no agreement be found on the clause, at that point Milan could propose not to include it at all, leaving the events that follow to determine his value on the market.

  1. This is crazy.

Hakan is requesting 6m net from Inter. So that selfish junk player is always the same. If Milan put salary cup, than they know everything in advance.
Leao should be sold in summer for best offer that arrive and not expecting miracle nine digits amount.

  2. And why would someone pay 100M for him and who actually? Everyone says “sell him sell him” but only Chelsea was concrete and they bought Mudryk. Most clubs arent as confident in him

    1. And ManCity (the other big candidate) might be playing in lower divisions for years if there’s any justice in football world.

You are correct – there is no team in the world willing to pay 100M€ for him.

  3. He’s already gone. If he wanted to sign, he would have signed already.

The delay is because they’re already courted verbals from outside of Italia. Right now, he will likely go to Chelsea or ManCity, but he’d really like to go to Spain but there is a lot less interest for him there right now.

Leao will be sold. The good news is, Leao is not going to drag it out, he wants a transfer (and team to pay his sporting fine) – so Milan WILL get good cash out of him which can be reused.

Redbird has been cheap and poor leadership to mgmt so far, so let’s see what they do with the money. So far, Cardinale has caused far more problems for Milan than he’s solved.

  4. If Leao ends up leaving for free I WILL join the voices calling for Maldini and Massara to be sacked. It would be catastrophic for us not to monetize Leao.

  5. will get 80 mil for him and it will be paid in 3 years or something like that
they missed the train to sell him for good money and unfortunately it doesn’t paid off as he plays like sh*t recently.
Okafor will replace him next year

  6. Maldini has been royal and a symbol of Milan as player and captain but he seems to be incompetent in other aspects. Loosing Dona, Kessie, Hakan and Roma for free, Leao is Knocking then keep Baka is another version of our beloved capitain

  7. 6.5 would have more than been worth it to re-sign Kessie. He was a guaranteed ‘lock’ in every match as a defensive midfielder and even when he stepped up and played as a No 10. He was the best penalty taker. He actually meant something to the team.

On the other hand Leao is just a great individual player. He will never make much difference for the overall team. I wouldn’t pay him more than 4mil a year.
