GdS: Milan’s probable XI for Empoli encounter – Jovic on the bench

AC Milan will take on Empoli away from home tomorrow, hoping to make it three consecutive wins in all competitions. Compared to the mid-week clash against Cagliari, there will be a lot of changes to the starting eleven.

Stefano Pioli fielded a makeshift eleven in the Coppa Italia clash against Cagliari, with the likes of Jan-Carlo Simic, Alex Jimenez and Chka Traore starting. However, it turned out well for Milan as they won the game by four goals to one.

Against Empoli, however, Pioli will revert to the ‘standard’ eleven as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below). This means that Olivier Giroud will play from the first minute, despite Luka Jovic’s recent success with five goals in six games.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Hernandez, Florenzi; Loftus-Cheek, Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

The decision to not start the Serbian is probably one that many Milan fans will complain about. On the other hand, he played the full game against Cagliari just four days ago and his physical condition has only just recouped.

Yacine Adli will be the starting midfielder in the No.6 role, given Ismael Bennacer’s departure for the AFCON with Algeria. The Frenchman will need to build on the performance against Cagliari, impressing in that game.
