GdS: Milan eye six targets for three positions that need filling plus a big purchase

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have clear ideas for the transfer market once Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s renewal has been signed, according to a report.

According to Tuesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), the signature of Ibrahimovic is expected to bring Milan’s market to life, and the first two signings will be a right-back and a midfielder.

The name closest to arriving remains Chelsea’s Tiemoué Bakayoko and the deal could be wrapped up in the next couple of days, but the alternative is also ready in Benfica’s Florentino Luis.

Pioli asked for four starting midfielders and the club intend to keep Bennacer, Kessie and Pobega – who penned a new five-year deal on Monday – with Bakayoko therefore completing the department.

For the role of right-back Serge Aurier is still on pole but the gap between offer and demand (Milan want to pay €15m but the asking price is €20m) must still be bridged. The alternative is Denzel Dumfries of PSV Eindhoven.

An attacking midfielder to replace Bonaventura could also arrive and although the name of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid has emerged, Aleksey Miranchuk’s name can not yet be forgotten.

But the real ‘big purchase’ – as reported by the paper – will have to be Rafael Leao. Pioli and AC Milan are expecting the explosion of the young Portuguese forward in 2020-21.
