AC Milan face an intriguing situation regarding the future of captain Alessio Romagnoli and his contract, according to a report.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) reports that while a renewal with Davide Calabria and Franck Kessie seems like a straightforward negotiation, it is a slightly more complicated situation with Romagnoli for a number of reasons.
The centre-back already earns a high salary of €3.5m net per year but with Mino Raiola as his agent, Milan’s idea of keeping the current salary in the extension seems like it might not be too well received.
Negotiations with Romagnoli appear to be more difficult than those regarding Kessie and Calabria therefore, but the management certainly appreciate the Italy international. He showed his attachment to the club by renewing in 2018 when the club was experiencing a complicated moment after the Chinese ownership.
He could have left then as there were numerous offers but he decided to stay. This time though, if Milan do not offer a pay rise Romagnoli could consider trying an experience elsewhere, but renewal talks are most likely to be addressed at the end of the season.
