GdS: Milan in first after Scudetto-worthy displays of Giroud and Pulisic

AC Milan secured yet another three points in the league last night but it certainly wasn’t easy, scoring the winner against Genoa in the 87th minute and then having to finish the game with Olivier Giroud in goal.

The ending to the clash was simply insane and the Rossoneri did really well to ride out the storm. Giroud stepped up to the task and made a couple of interventions, one of which can be considered as decisive.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), Milan have found two Scudetto-winning bombers: one in attack and one in goal. Christian Pulisic’s goal in the 87th minute, Giroud’s save in the dying moments – this is what brought home a very tough game for Stefano Pioli’s men.

Pulisic has become increasingly important since joining Milan from Chelsea this summer for a fee of €20m. He has four goals to his name already and several of them have been crucial for the Rossoneri (vs. Bologna, vs. Lazio and yesterday).

As for Giroud, he made a crucial save in the dying minutes, coming out with no fear and diving towards the ball before collecting his own rebound. “Si è girato Giroud” could now be switched to “Ho parato Giroud” by the Milan fans and the Frenchman certainly deserves all the praise he can get.

Milan are now top of the standings, with Juventus up next after the break.
