GdS: Milan will not force Maignan’s return with confidence in Sportiello

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are not going to rush Mike Maignan’s return from injury as there is confidence in Marco Sportiello as the deputy, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the French goalkeeper is set to make his return from a slight injury soon and there is a chance he will face Cagliari on Wednesday.

Milan may actually choose to leave his return until the Lazio match at the weekend for two main reasons.

They do not want to risk aggravating the injury and causing him to suffer a much longer injury lay-off like the one he experienced last season.

As well as that, Marco Sportiello has shown himself to be a capable deputy with a clean sheet against Hellas Verona and Stefano Pioli would be comfortable for the Italian to be in between the sticks for the trip to Sardinia on Wednesday night.
