AC Milan have held initial discussions about the potential of signing Marko Arnautovic ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) underlines that there have not yet been meetings between Milan and Bologna but that the Rossoneri have certainly had at least an exploratory discussion.

The Austrian centre-forward does not seem to have a great understanding with Thiago Motta at Bologna and is also experiencing a difficult period from a physical point of view, given he has played just 16 times this season in the league, scoring 8 goals.
Arnautovic has shown that he can still score goals at this level and in addition to that the paper claims that he would be available for a fee of less than €5m given his age and his situation with the Rossoblu.
Milan are looking for a player to support Olivier Giroud after he renewed and there could be a big overhaul in the striker role given Ante Rebic nor Divock Origi have disappointed and Zlatan Ibrahimovic could retire.
In terms of replacing the Swede, an experienced option who guarantees goals to alternate with Giroud and perhaps also help mentor a younger striker seems like it may at least tick some boxes, La Gazzetta conclude.

Another old guy? Maybe as a stop gap for a year. He does have serious pedigree. Younger than Giroud, I suppose!
Can’t believe it’s true.
I guess we learned nothing from Mandzukic’s case
Besides both of their last names ending on IC, Arnautovic possible signing has nothing in common with Mandzukic.
Mandzukic was on the street, not playing a football for a year and before that he played in Qatar.
Arnautovic plays in serie A. Last season scored 14 goals, more that any of our players, and even with his problems with Motta this season he still has 8 goals scored.
He isn’t the striker signing that would excite the fans but he is an upgrade from what we are getting from Zlatan, Origi and Rebic this season. He has more goals than all 3 combined
Yep, good breakdown. We also are in a sort of holding pattern because of Leao. If we have to sell it will be for a reduced fee and so we’ll have to replace him and still have holes at RW and depth issues, so this signing would allow more allocation of fund to those areas. It also doesn’t preclude us from bringing in Colombo to the striker department as the no. 3 guy without the pressure of having to be the sole provider if papa Giroud goes down or gets tired.
Get firmino instead
I think he must already have agreed a deal somewhere. The announcement of him leaving Liverpool seems to imply he knew his next destination already, I’d guess in Spain
Barcelona i tihnk.
Maybe, but I think his pressing style would better suit Atletico Madrid. Germany is also a possibility with Bayern.
get someone who scored even less goals
like why
Another old crack.. maybe milan negotiate to free to pay for this man… Wheres is colombo and lazetic ??
Colombo is at Lecce collecting as many yellow cards as goals while Lazetic is in Austria struggling to get minutes. Neither of them are ready yet (if ever) for the Milan first team. Not saying Anautovic is a good solution but there is no answer to the striker issue amongst the youths currently owned by Milan.
Agree with this. These two young players did well at youth level, but its the classic case of them being bigger and stronger than their contemporaries, but when everyone catches up on the growing and strength training, they are nothing special.
Please please please Milan, it’s better to sign Nicholas Dominguez than Arnatouvic. He is the best pair of Tonali in that deep midfield. Yes we are at the semifinals but we don’t have a perfect midfield, keeping in mind that midfield is the engine. Bennacer and krunic are not as good as Dominguez please maldini and pioli.
This is precisely why Arnautovic is in the conversation. Getting him for ~5m would allow us to spend money elsewhere. Not the ideal signing, but which one of our players aside from superstar Leao can score 14 goals in Serie A as Arnautovic did last season with *Bologna*, which was even playing a defensive style with Mihajlovic at the helm.
Personally prefer if we bet on Colombo next season. But if we can get Arnautovic on a bargain I can’t see why not. It seems that our luck is better on older strikers.
Above all we still need a decent first-team-guarantee striker for next season.
With all the money that they spend on old washed up strikers, they could have actually bought a decent striker. Retegui was very cheap this summer but Milan just scouted him for nothing. Now bunch of teams want him and his price is up, however he still isn’t expensive, Milan can still afford him. So why not go for him and make 36 year old Giroud the back up striker rather then trying to find a back up for Giroud and relay on 36 year old as your first choice striker. Also Scamaca may be avaliable in the summer as well, that is an option too. I just dont find it serious for an ambitious team to relay on a 36/37 year old.
Retegui is sh*t and overhyped, wtf has he shown?
Scammaca is struggling at West Ham and injured a lot
both will cost 30m, why waste that money on a striker when we got so many other holes to fill as well?
