GdS: Milan increasingly young as Maldini is set to start – Giroud the counterweight

By Isak Möller -

After making several appearances as a substitute for AC Milan, Daniel Maldini is now ready to make his first league start for the club. They will face Spezia this afternoon and it should be an interesting game.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli has been thinking about starting the youngster for quite some time now. Today’s the day, though, and Maldini will have to show his qualities.

Maldini is still just 19-years-old and it’s clear that he still has a lot of time to improve. With him on the pitch, Milan will be increasingly young and Pioli is using the players at his disposal, regardless of the young ages.

Of course, experience is also very important to have and that’s why Olivier Giroud is expected to start up front. He’s finally back after struggling with an injury and he will act as the counterweight this afternoon, with regards to the average age of the XI.

  1. Good to see Pioli using the WHOLE squad.Rotation is important..even if the player does not score…we can bring on stronger players if things are not working.
It means Brahim,Leao and Rebic will get some rest.I hope Gabbia starts as well. Last thing we need is Tomori injured.
