GdS: Milan initiate contacts with Romagnoli over renewal as concerns arise

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the youth revolution this summer, AC Milan are keen on locking down the players they want to keep. In addition to Gigio Donnarumma, the Rossoneri also want to initiate contacts over Alessio Romagnoli’s renewal.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milanlive.it), the deadline isn’t imminent as the defender’s contract will expire in 2022, but there is concern that a new Donnarumma case could arise.

Therefore, to avoid any issues, Milan want to secure the matter as soon as possible. In 2018, with two years left on the deal, Fassone and Mirabelli renewed Romagnoli’s contract and awarded him with the captain’s armband in the process.

As said, the contract is still long, but a renewal could arrive as early as in the coming months. However, per the newspaper, the 25-year-old wouldn’t be opposed to leaving the Rossoneri. Given his importance to the team, this is a very unlikely hypothesis.
