GdS: Milan, Inter and Napoli await UCL draw fate – the teams to avoid

AC Milan will find out their Champions League last 16 opponents this afternoon as the draw will take place at 12 noon CET in Nyon, Switzerland.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls that the first set of knockout games in the competition will take place from mid-February onwards with the Rossoneri joined by Napoli and Inter – after the elimination of Juventus – as the Italian representatives.

Luciano Spalletti ‘s Napoli qualified as first in Group A, on equal points with Liverpool but with a better goal difference in head-to-head matches. They got 15 points after 5 wins and one defeat. Simone Inzaghi’s Inter and Stefano Pioli’s Milan finished their respective Groups, C and E, with 10 points and in second place, behind Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Napoli could draw PSG, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt or Club Brugge, with the Parisians being the most obvious team to avoid in that list, but having scored 20 goals in the group stage alone – making the, the best attack in the Champions League – they will not fear anyone.

Inter could meet Chelsea who beat the Rossoneri comfortably in both group meetings, while the Rossoneri have ample chance of facing Bayern Munich who beat their city rivals easily both at home and away.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Porto and Benfica are the other possible opponents, but any team in this stage of the competition will be far from an easy game.
