GdS: Milan join Dortmund and Man City in race for 22-year-old Eredivisie star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have joined a number of clubs in the race for Groningen left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson, according to a report.

A number of source have reported that Milan are on the lookout for a new full-back to become the deputy to Theo Hernandez and although Diego Laxalt is returning from his loan at Celtic, he does not seem to feature in the plans of the club and instead looks to be closing in on a move to Russia.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), a new target has emerged in addition to the constant rumours about Junior Firpo. In addition to Napoli, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City, Milan have also set their sights on Gabriel Gudmundsson, a 22-year-old who plays for Groningen left-back.

The cost of the operation should not be prohibitive as the paper claims that it would take €5m or less for the Eredivisie side to sell. Gudmundsson played 23 times in the league last season, amassing 5 assists.
