GdS: Milan weigh up pros and cons as Jovic could leave on a free transfer

By Isak Möller -

Luka Jovic arrived on deadline day last summer and although the expectations were low, the striker has still impressed most of the fans. His future, on the other hand, is far from certain as AC Milan might not renew the contract.

After a tough start to the season, Jovic found some momentum and scored eight goals in the space of three months (nine in total). Then came the infamous red card against Monza, which certainly elevated doubts that had been highlighted earlier.

Milan are well aware of the player’s potential but next season, they need guarantees and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they are considering the signing of Armando Broja. He could leave Chelsea for a relatively low figure and he’s also younger than Jovic.

The Rossoneri won’t head into next season with three strikers, and as Joshua Zirkzee is expected to be the main man, one of Broja and Jovic will not be part of the plans. The directors are currently weighing up the pros and cons, but there is not a huge rush on this front.

Of course, if Jovic were to leave Milan, he would do so on a free transfer as a one-year deal (with an option for a renewal) was signed last summer.

        1. If you watch the albanian national team you can see how good he is.You haven’t watch this player so better is to not talk about him.And if you reply to me you are gonna say that he has 2 goals and 1 assist. This Is because he had a injury. If you see him.play you are gonna see that this player is better than jovic.Broja is more physical and is faster than jovic

  1. Just sign Zirkzee. And use the rest of the budget on other position like CDM, CB/RB

If there’s still some budget after that we can talk about deputy striker other than Jovic.

  2. Yeah I’d agree, there’s also the new coach factor who may play a part. Zirkzee, Jovic, Okafor is a good mix…still not convinced we are getting Zirkzee though but we’ll see

  3. Am not even a fan of this broja he is no way better than jovic, his only main ability is his physicality.

That apart I would not mind if we sell jovic and get depay,I mean he is a free agent and are not getting many bids around him and also he would needed for his ability to play any where in attack, after all Milan are always into free agent or players in their last year contract 🥲🥲

    (JUST AN OPINION)

    1. Depay is a great shout. That being said, IMO jovic has earnt a bench spot at Milan.
Focus should be zirkzee, CDM and CB.

  4. Bullsh!t as always…

“The Rossoneri won’t head into next season with three strikers, and as Joshua Zirkzee is expected to be the main man, one of Broja and Jovic will not be part of the plans”

  5. both Jovic and Borja are just for the depth, so might as well keep the one we already have and who has proven to be able to score and is also cheaper, rather than spend money on the unproven.

  6. Please replace Jovic with Broja….

Jovic can only play in a 2 striker system and I would hardly say a total of 6 league goals is prolific AND again all those goals were scored when he was playing alongside Giroud. When he had to lead the line he simply could not – which has been the case his whole career. He needs the right system to succeed. Let him walk and replace him with the younger, bigger and better player who played in the fast paced EPL in Broja. Zirkzee starting w Broja as a backup would be excellent business by Georgie boy

  7. Jovic is not great, not terrible, just average. And if Milan wants to be back at the top, they should focus on players with more potential than Jovic has, even pulling up some young guy that can grow.

  8. Broja has scored 3 goals in his last 3 seasons. He’s had 2 major injuries in that time. He’s useless. We need a reliable deputy, not Caladara 2.0.

  9. I think Chelsea are trying to dump Broja on somebody. He’s had too many injuries and too few matches played, and has turned into one of the many formerly bright Chelsea Academy products who the club needs to get rid of now.

Jovic is fine as a backup.

  10. If Jovic leave Milan, Zirkzee in, Milan must give minutes play for De Katelaere, Okafor, Colombo. Young man need minutes play, to build fight mentality n playing knowledge
