GdS: Milan ready to launch €20m bid for Tottenham defender

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are ready to make Tottenham a bid of €20m for Brazilian defender Emerson Royal, meaning he could become the first signing of the summer for the Rossoneri.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Milan want to get active in the transfer market straight away and have set their sights on Emerson.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is viewed as a worthy option to provide depth behind Davide Calabria and he could eventually be the replacement for the Italian.

Milan are expected to announce Paulo Fonseca as coach on Thursday and that could be the touch paper for the Rossoneri to start making signings and working more seriously on negotiations.

Tottenham initially wanted €30m for Emerson but they have lowered their request and Milan think that €20m could be enough to get the Premier League club to part with the former Barcelona man.

Since joining Tottenham, Emerson has been something of a bit-part player with some impressive moments. The emergence of Pedro Porro at right-back means there is less space for Emerson and that is why he is willing to make this move and fight with Calabria for a place. He cost Tottenham €25m in 2021.

  1. why? too much for a rb that did not make the grade at spurs where they do not win anything. why not try for bellanova or delorenzo

    1. This management are no brainer.. Tiago Santos is less than 15m and he is younger due to their policy of young talented players but prefer more expensive player in Emerson 20m that lack defensive and dribbling quality , poor cross and all he have is speed and cards prone

  2. Please don’t waste money on him. Remember our previous (ex-)Barca-players? Dest & Krkić? Yeah. Amazing players who did wonderful things in Milan.

  3. Agree with everyone here – especially Goku – let’s sign Santos instead. Hopefully this is just more fake news but Calabria definitely needs competion. Guy ended the season in a shambles.

  4. Contrary to the above, I think he has potential to do quite well, but I’d much rather see a loan with a buy option. I think he could be well suited to Serie A, especially if we acquire a good covering DM. I thought he might be on big wages though.

    1. Fine he can go do well in any club in serie a . Just let him stay the f away from Milan. I’d rather we burn 20M on the streets than buy a flopper and pretend it’s an upgrade
