GdS: Milan linked with Brazilian defender as backup for Hernandez

AC Milan have been linked with Sassuolo defender Rogerio as a possible backup option for Theo Hernandez, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), the Rossoneri are keen to ensure that they have enough options at left-back for the new season.

Theo Hernandez is the undisputed starter in that position for the Rossoneri, but his only real backup last season was Fode Ballo-Toure, who the club are keen to sell.

A move to either Fulham or Bologna seems very possible for Ballo-Toure in the coming days, so Milan must ensure they replace him.

Sassuolo’s Rogerio appears to be a possible option. One of his major selling points is that he holds an Italian passport and can be used in the Champions League, removing one registration headache for Milan.

Another linked player is FC Basel’s Riccardo Calafiori, but Rogerio has got more Serie A experience. The paper also mentions that Sassuolo have rejected an €8m bid from Spartak Moscow for ‘moral reasons’, so he could join Milan for less.

  1. no, no, no why do we hate italians so much, we could have got Parisi but we have missed the boat, seems we don’t fancy Calafiori for some reason and everyone hates on Florenzi ?? whats wrong with Mazzochi, can play both LB nd RB, experienced, cheap and would boost our home grown quotas ???

  2. Sassuolo. Oh this guy won’t come cheap unless he’s nearing the end of his contract. I am also not sure he wants to join from being a starter to being a backup. Would be a great signing but I don’t see it happening.
