AC Milan are expected to be active in the January transfer window and they could make a splash to bring in Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport speaks about the issues in midfield and on the right wing, given the lack of a quality alternative to the starts in each position, with Morten Frendrup of Genoa and Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo the latest names linked.

However, left-back is a problem too. Paulo Fonseca has only Filippo Terracciano and Alex Jimenez as back-ups to Theo Hernandez and the fact that the Frenchman is suspended for two games in the league has highlighted the issue further.

A reinforcement in that role would be welcomed by the Portuguese coach and club scouts have studied the 19-year-old Patrick Dorgu of Lecce very closely. They consider him a promising player, even making a €10m offer last summer, but signing him in the winter with Lecce in a relegation battle could be tough.

It ‘would take a significant offer, perhaps with a counterpart’ to tempt the Giallorossi, but a move next summer is also possible. In terms of age, quality and potential he ticks a lot of boxes, and Milan ‘will do everything possible to get ahead of the competition’.
