GdS: Milan made to sweat for win against Genoa but all that matters is winning

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan managed to grind out their first home win since early February as they meet Genoa 2-1 at San Siro on Sunday lunchtime.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), we are entering the decisive moment of the season where every match becomes fundamental for each team to reach their target, and this is especially true for Milan who suffered and struggled a lot against Genoa yesterday.

Nonetheless, three more golden points arrived in the race towards the next edition of the Champions League. The paper reports the words of head coach Stefano Pioli at the end of the match against the Grifone.

“We know we have an important goal and what matters now is to win. I like seeing a team that fought until the ninetieth. It’s time to bite the bullet and bring home the win,” he said. He is right too, as we are at the point of the season where the three points are more important than the good performances.

Milan did not play well against the Rossoblu on the contrary they made a lot of mistakes and only thanks to an own goal did they secure a win. Tiredness is showing, especially for a team that had three preliminary rounds of the Europa League to start the season, but it is not the time to give up with seven games left.
