GdS: Milan prepare Maignan renewal with ‘significant pay rise’ amid Chelsea links

After another very good season, in spite of his injury issues, it’s not exactly a surprise that several big clubs have expressed their interest in Mike Maignan. However, AC Milan are preparing a renewal for their star.

Maignan missed 23 games this season due to a calf injury but was able to play most of the second half of the season. In that period, he certainly showed his class again and it’s not surprising that several big teams are interested in him.

Chelsea, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, are one of them but it will not be easy to sign the Frenchman. Milan will only evaluate triple-digit offers and it remains to be seen if the Stamford Bridge side are willing to pay that much for a goalkeeper.

Furthermore, Milan are preparing a renewal (the current deal expires in 2026) which will include a ‘significant pay rise’. Maignan could receive a salary similar to Rafael Leao, who signed a new deal at €5m plus easy bonuses. In short, the Rossoneri really want to keep him.

    1. We can disagree on everything else and we all hope Milan will do fine, but I think we can all agree that Jerry is here for money. He’s basically only speaking about money, he didn’t even know that Milan have won 7 UCL last year and he’s running an investment firm in Wall Street. He’s not here for philanthropy.

      1. And the best way to make money is for the squad to deteriorate in quality. As the team gets worse, the more he will make…genius! 🤦🏻‍♂️

      2. you dont want Milan to do fine, you want Milan to finish 10th next season so you can have your fun in social media laughing at the owners for sacking Milan

is this AC Milan or AC Maldini?

  1. IF they managed to finalize the deal this year I’d be amazed. And thrilled. Not betting our house on it to happen though.

  2. He can stall his renewal until next year and then ask for something really significant. Then we can have a real circus all through 2024, if management thinks the demand is too much. By 2025, he’s in his final year. The club’s that want him will decide – why pay when we can get him free in 12 months?

  3. And if Maignan could play that missed 23 games, ACM should have fight for the title and at least finished 2nd place.
