AC Milan are going to be meeting with Matija Popovic’s agents today in Milan to try and get the signing of the young striker over the line.
As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Popovic is not far away from becoming an official Milan player after he landed with his agents in Italy yesterday to get the deal done.
There were positive talks with the Milan hierarchy on Tuesday and there is going to be one final meeting on Wednesday to define the very last details of the transfer for the Serbian.
All that will be left to do then is the official announcement, which could reportedly come as early as Thursday.
The 18-year-old Popovic has seemed destined for Milan for weeks now but there was a moment where Milan waivered over his non-EU status.
That appeared to open the door for Manchester City who made an attempt to steal him from Milan’s noses, but the former Partizan Belgrade star is now almost set for the Rossoneri.
His contract with Partizan ran out at the end of 2023 and he will be joining Milan on a free transfer. He will move into the Primavera squad but could soon be a contender for first-team minutes.
